Job summary

NANA Management Services is hiring a Kitchen Helper to support cooks in a remote camp kitchen environment. This role involves sanitation, cleaning, food preparation, stocking, and serving duties across dining, storeroom, and serving areas.

The position requires teamwork, adherence to safety standards, and ability to work long shifts in a dormitory-style camp setting in Alaska. English proficiency and compliance with pre-employment testing are essential.

Qualifications

• - At least one year of work experience in a commercial kitchen or documented vocational training demonstrating knowledge of industrial cleaning equipment, food prep, and cleaning processes.
• - Must have or obtain Alaska Food Workers Card and/or ServSafe Certification upon hire.
• - Must pass pre-employment tests (drug test, physical and fit-for-duty assessment, hearing test).
• - Must cooperate and work as part of a team with colleagues, customers and clients.
• - Must stand for 12 hours per shift on rotation.
• - Must be able to live in dormitory-style settings and meet cleanliness requirements.

Responsibilities

• Assists cooks and coordinates activities within a food service area.
• Prepare food and cook vegetables, entrees, coffee, sauces, meats, etc.
• Maintain stock in preparation, serving, or storage areas and service machines.
• Stock various food service areas with products and materials.
• Clean dishes, utensils, pots, pans, and store properly.
• Wash objects by hand or with cleaning equipment.
• Clean, sweep, wipe dining/kitchen/storage areas and equipment.
• Assist with large cleaning projects as scheduled.
• Remove garbage from areas and set up/break down serving lines.
• May occasionally assist with additional cooking duties.
• Report safety or sanitation issues to supervisor.
