Job summary

Smart Tech Contracting is seeking a Field Technician II – Building Automation to support install, startup and commissioning of BAS/HVAC controls across multiple projects in the IAD region. You will work with the install team to ensure proper wiring, testing and documentation, under supervision.

The role emphasizes hands-on learning, compliance with safety requirements, and effective communication with project teams. Local travel within the home market may be required.

Qualifications

• Associates degree or Technical Certificate in Building Automation Systems, Mechanical/Electrical Technology or closely related field.
• Two years of hands-on installation, testing, validation and troubleshooting of controls infrastructure is acceptable in lieu of the degree.
• Proficiency with MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint) and strong documentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist with installation startup, commissioning and closeout of BAS/HVAC controls systems.
• Support pre-functional and functional testing and QAQC of BAS/integrated systems.
• Document issues, coordinate with project team, and attend project meetings.
• Communicate project status and site updates; maintain organized jobsite and inventory.
