Job summary

The Travelers Indemnity Company is seeking an Outside Auto Appraiser who will inspect damaged vehicles, estimate repair costs, and determine actual cash value for settlements. The role involves working remotely across assigned territories with on-site visits as needed and collaboration with repair facilities to ensure accurate outcomes.

Ideal candidates will have a bachelor’s degree, an auto damage appraisal background, and strong communication and customer service skills to support claim

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree required.
• Active adjuster license where applicable.
• Two years of auto physical damage appraisal experience.
• Proficient in claims management and estimating software; strong MS Office skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication; ability to make sound judgments.

Responsibilities

• Inspect and assess vehicle damage via on-site or virtual inspections at body shops or customer locations.
• Review estimates, conduct virtual inspections, and coordinate with repair facilities for accuracy.
• Prepare repair estimates for parts, labor, and materials to restore vehicles to pre-loss condition.
• Evaluate and settle vehicle total losses using ACV and market data.
• Negotiate repair costs and settlements with shops, customers, and third-party claimants.
• Document pre-existing damage, prior repairs, and potential fraud indicators.
