Job summary

Travelers is seeking an Outside Auto Appraiser to inspect damaged vehicles, estimate repair costs, and settle total losses. The role requires technical expertise in vehicle damage assessment, excellent customer service, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Active adjuster license, where applicable.
• Two years of auto physical damage appraisal experience.
• Proficient in claims management and estimating software.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Inspect and assess vehicle damage through on-site or virtual inspections at body shops or customer locations.
• Perform estimate review work and collaborate with repair facilities for accuracy and consistency.
• Prepare accurate repair estimates for parts, labor, and materials.
• Evaluate and settle vehicle total losses by determining actual cash value via market research.
• Negotiate costs and settlements with body shops, customers, and third parties to reach timely resolutions.
• Document pre-existing damage, prior repairs, and potential fraud indicators.
• Coordinate with claim reps, shops, and vendors to arrange repairs and resolve issues.
• Provide exceptional customer service by explaining the appraisal process and updating owners.
