Job summary

Travelers Canada is seeking an Outside Auto Appraiser to inspect vehicle damage, estimate repair costs, and determine actual cash value for total losses. This remote-based role may involve on-site visits to body shops or customers.

You will collaborate with claim staff, repair facilities, and vendors to deliver timely settlements, using industry-standard estimating software and market research. A Bachelor's degree, an active adjuster license, and two years of auto damage appraisal experience are

• Bachelor’s Degree.
• Active adjuster license, where applicable.
• Two years of auto physical damage appraisal experience.
• Proficient in claims management and estimating software, with advanced skills in Microsoft Office and enterprise technology systems.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to convey information clearly and professionally.
• Ability to exercise sound judgement and make effective decisions.
• Exceptional customer service skills and commitment to providing a positive experience throughout the claim process.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills; ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to learn quickly and apply experience to new situations with speed and flexibility.

Responsibilities

• Inspect and assess vehicle damage from accidents or covered losses via on-site or virtual inspections.
• Perform estimate reviews and collaborate with repair facilities for accuracy and consistency.
• Prepare accurate repair estimates to determine parts, labor, and material costs.
• Evaluate and settle vehicle total losses by determining actual cash value through market research.
• Negotiate repair costs and settlements with body shops, customers, and third-party claimants.
• Identify pre-existing damage, prior repairs, and potential fraud indicators.
• Coordinate repairs with claim representatives, body shops, and vendors.
• Provide exceptional customer service by explaining the appraisal process and keeping owners informed.
• Adapt to technology implementations and digital tool rollouts while maintaining productivity.
