Job summary

JST is seeking an AI Engineer to help build a new AI-powered product from the ground up. The engineer will work with the Head of AI Engineering to move ideas into working software across cloud infrastructure, data workflows, APIs, and user interfaces.

This remote, full-time role welcomes graduates with strong fundamentals and a willingness to learn across the stack. You will ship secure, maintainable capabilities while collaborating with product leaders and engineers in a distributed environment.

Qualifications

• Master's or PhD in CS/AI/ML/DS or related field completed or near completion.
• Strong programming fundamentals with practical experience in Python/TS/JS.
• Understanding of APIs, databases, version control, testing, and cloud basics.
• Ability to break down ambiguous problems and ship working code.
• Clear written and verbal communication and good product judgment.

Responsibilities

• Use AI harnesses to turn requirements into tested production software.
• Build capabilities across cloud, backend, APIs, data pipelines, and web apps.
• Design agentic systems for planning, tool use, and workflow coordination.
• Implement controls for dependability: approvals, observability, cost and latency.
• Work with product teams to translate feedback into releases.
• Own vertical slices from design to deployment with guidance from leadership.
• Evaluate models and tooling for quality, safety, speed, and cost.
• Write tests, docs, runbooks, and support notes for operations.
• Investigate issues and improve reliability and automation.
