Job summary

Pearson is seeking a forward deployed engineer to embed with our most strategic lines of business, solving real problems with production AI software. You’ll work directly with stakeholders, design end-to-end systems, and ship working software that addresses concrete needs.

The role demands autonomy, a bias to action, and a strong foundation in full-stack development and AI tooling. You’ll operate across frontend, backend, data, and deployment, owning the full stack from concept to live service.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of full-stack engineering experience
• Strong CS fundamentals in data structures, algorithms, and system design
• Frontend depth with React and TypeScript
• Backend depth in Node.JS, Java, and Python and API design
• Production LLM experience and deployment at scale
• Fluency with AI-assisted development tools and agentic coding
• Data fluency with databases and Python tooling
• Cloud deployment across AWS, GCP, or Azure with real URLs behind authentication
• Integration experience with SSO, OAuth, and third-party APIs
• High-agency mindset to operate across ambiguous environments
• Excellent communication bridging executives and engineers
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent

Responsibilities

• Go where the problem is and work with internal stakeholders to design end-to-end systems
• Conduct real discovery by observing users and translating needs into buildable features
• Build live software during stakeholder conversations, delivering working products
• Handle messy inputs and convert them into coherent solutions
• Ship production AI applications on frontier LLMs and related tech
• Iterate rapidly across engagements and deliver successive versions
• Own the full stack including frontend, backend, data, and observability
• Codify patterns and push reusable assets back to the platform
• Maintain ongoing relationships with lines of business through engagement lifecycle
