Job summary

Pearson is seeking a forward deployed engineer to embed with internal stakeholders and deliver real software that addresses real problems. You will own the full stack from frontend to observability, shipping production AI applications and iterating across engagements.

The role requires deep frontend and backend expertise, strong CS fundamentals, and experience with AI-enabled development tools. You will interact with executives and engineers, driving impact across Pearson’s enterprise AI

Qualifications

• 8+ years of full-stack engineering with production systems.
• Strong CS fundamentals: data structures, algorithms, system design.
• Frontend depth with modern React, TypeScript and component architecture.
• Backend depth across Node.js, Java, and Python; API design and auth.
• Production LLM experience with prompt engineering and retrieval.
• Familiar with AI-assisted development tools and agent coding.
• Data tooling in Python; comfort with databases.
• Cloud deployment: AWS/GCP/Azure with CI/CD and observability.
• Integration experience: OAuth/SSO and third-party APIs.
• High agency and low ego; able to navigate ambiguity and own outcomes.
• Excellent cross-team communication; able to bridge executives and engineers.

Responsibilities

• Go where the problem is and design end-to-end systems for internal stakeholders.
• Conduct real discovery by sitting with users and translating needs into buildable outcomes.
• Build during conversations and deliver working software quickly.
• Work from messy inputs and turn them into coherent solutions.
• Ship production AI applications on custom stacks and evaluate results.
• Iterate across numerous engagements with shifting requirements.
• Own the full stack and observability of deployed services.
• Codify repeatable patterns back to platform and engineering teams.
• Maintain relationships with lines of business throughout engagements.
