Job summary

Pearson is seeking a forward deployed engineer to work directly with internal stakeholders, embedding with business lines to ship real software. You will own the full stack, from frontend to backend and observability, delivering production AI applications that address real problems.

The role emphasizes autonomy, ambiguity tolerance, and cross-functional collaboration. You will move quickly from discovery to deployment, iterating across engagements and codifying reusable patterns for future work.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of full-stack engineering experience with production systems end-to-end.
• Strong CS fundamentals: data structures, algorithms, system design.
• Frontend depth: React/TypeScript with component architecture and state management.
• Backend depth (Node.JS, Java, Python): API design, data modeling, auth, error handling.
• Production LLM experience: prompt engineering, agent development, deployment at scale.
• Fluency with AI-assisted development tools and agentic coding.
• Data fluency: databases and Python data tooling.
• Cloud deployment: AWS, GCP, or Azure; real URL behind auth; CI/CD, containers, observability.
• Integration experience: SSO, OAuth, APIs, internal platforms.

Responsibilities

• Go where the problem is and design end-to-end systems with internal stakeholders.
• Conduct real discovery by sitting with users and translating needs into buildable work.
• Build during the conversation and ship working software quickly.
• Handle messy inputs and turn them into coherent designs.
• Ship production AI applications using frontier LLMs and related tech.
• Own the full stack and ensure production observability.
• Codify successful patterns and share with platform/engineering teams.
• Maintain long-term relationships with lines of business.
