Job summary

BayCare is seeking an Advanced Inpatient Coder Specialist for a remote, full-time position available to residents of Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, or South Carolina. The role centers on accurate ICD-10-CM/PCS coding for complex inpatient encounters, with collaboration across clinical teams and ongoing mentorship.

You will work on multi-day, multi-specialty cases, handle physician queries, and support MSDRG and PSI/HAC reviews.

Qualifications

• CCS certification required.
• 5+ years Acute Care experience.
• 3+ years inpatient coding experience.
• RHIT preferred in addition to CCS.
• High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Analyze inpatient documentation to assign ICD-10-CM/PCS codes.
• Collaborate with medical staff for accurate diagnoses and DRG assignments.
• Formulate physician queries and monitor bill hold reports; liaise with CDS/Quality teams.
• Leverage anatomy, pathophysiology, and pharmacology knowledge for accurate coding.
• Mentor and train junior coders and students.
