Job summary

BayCare is seeking an Advanced Inpatient Coding Specialist for a remote, PRN role. You will code inpatient encounters across multiple high-acuity service lines, including Orthopedics, Neurology, Cardiac, and Trauma, ensuring accurate MS-DRG assignment and coding integrity.

The position requires 5+ years in acute care and 3+ years inpatient coding experience with CCS certification. HS diploma required; RHIT preferred. Remote work within FL/GA/NC/SC; flexible schedule.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of acute care experience.
• 3+ years of inpatient coding experience.
• Required: CCS certification; RHIT preferred.
• Required: High School Diploma or equivalent; Associate degree in HIT preferred.

Responsibilities

• Analyze complex inpatient documentation to assign accurate ICD-10-CM/ICD-10-PCS codes.
• Collaborate with physicians and clinical teams to code complex conditions such as sepsis and malnutrition.
• Create and manage physician queries and monitor bill hold reports.
• Partner with CDI and Quality teams to support accurate MS-DRG assignment and PSI/HAC reviews.
• Apply anatomy, pathophysiology, and pharmacology knowledge to coding accuracy.
• Mentor Coder I-III and students as needed.
• Complete additional duties as assigned.
