Job summary

BayCare is seeking an Advanced Inpatient Coding Specialist for a remote, full-time role. Must reside in Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, or South Carolina. CCS certification required; RHIT preferred.

Five years in acute care inpatient coding (three years inpatient coding) and strong anatomy knowledge are expected. Sign-on bonus available. Responsibilities include analyzing complex documentation, coordinating with Clinical Documentation and Quality teams, and mentoring junior coders.

Qualifications

• Required: CCS certification.
• Preferred: RHIT credential in addition to CCS.
• High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree preferred.
• 5 years acute care inpatient coding experience; 3 years inpatient coding.

Responsibilities

• Analyze inpatient documentation to assign ICD-10-CM/PCS codes.
• Collaborate with medical staff for accurate coding of complex diagnoses.
• Formulate queries and monitor hold reports.
• Serve as liaison to Clinical Documentation and Quality teams for accurate code/system assignments.
• Mentor and train Coding staff and students.
