Job summary

BayCare Health System seeks an experienced Specialty Coder III for advanced outpatient coding of short-stay encounters. You will review records and assign ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 codes, collaborating with clinicians to resolve documentation questions and support revenue-cycle integrity.

The role includes mentoring junior coders and students, with a focus on accuracy, regulatory compliance, and EHR integrity. Remote work is available to residents in FL/GA/SC/NC, with a dayshift schedule.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• CCS certification required or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Review and code short-stay outpatient encounters using ICD-10-CM and CPT-4.
• Ensure accurate code assignment and compliance with coding regulations and organizational standards.
• Collaborate with physicians, clinical staff, and departments to resolve documentation gaps and coding questions.
• Monitor and manage bill hold reports to support timely claim submission.
• Maintain the integrity and accuracy of the electronic health record.
• Assist with training, mentoring, and onboarding of coding staff and students.
• Serve as a resource for coding guidance and best practices.
