Job summary

BayCare is seeking an Advanced Inpatient Coding Specialist for a full-time remote position, requiring residence in Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, or South Carolina. You will analyze complex inpatient documentation and assign ICD-10-CM/PCS codes with clinical accuracy.

You will work with medical staff to resolve intricate diagnoses, prepare physician queries, and mentor junior coders while supporting the Clinical Documentation and Quality teams. Monday–Friday, 7:00 AM–3:30 PM, non-exempt.

Qualifications

• CCS certification required.
• RHIT preferred in addition to CCS.
• Minimum 5 years Acute Care experience.
• Minimum 3 years Inpatient Coding experience.

Responsibilities

• Analyze multi-day, multi-specialty inpatient documentation to assign ICD-10-CM/PCS codes.
• Collaborate with medical staff for accurate diagnoses such as malnutrition and sepsis.
• Formulate physician queries and monitor bill hold reports; liaise with Clinical Documentation and Quality teams for accurate code and MSDRG assignments.
• Apply anatomy, pathophysiology, and pharmacology knowledge for accurate code assignments.
• Mentor and trainCoder I-III and clinical practice students from various colleges.
