Job summary

Charter Impact, a remote-first firm, seeks an Accounts Payable Associate to support clients with timely invoice processing, GL coding, vendor setup, and weekly check runs. The role emphasizes client-facing professionalism and adherence to established procedures.

Qualified candidates will have 2+ years in AP or a related field, strong Excel and office software skills, and familiarity with nonprofit accounting systems; remote work is available in several states, including CT.

Qualifications

• A high school diploma and two years of related experience, or a bachelor’s degree in business administration, accounting, public administration, or a related field from an accredited college or university.
• Accounts payable experience is preferred.
• Knowledge of financial and accounting record-keeping practices.
• Knowledge of accrual accounting principles and procedures.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
• Strong English usage and grammar.
• Ability to prepare accurate financial reports and summaries.
• Experience with Sage Intacct or other similar Non-Profit Accounting systems is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform accounts payable duties with accuracy and timeliness to maintain positive vendor relations.
• Verify availability of cash and perform payment selections.
• Produce data entry and general ledger coding for invoices across entities.
• Generate accounts payable aging and provide to clients as needed.
• Notify clients of vendor discrepancies and ensure follow-ups.
• Resolve inquiries from clients and multiple entities via email/phone.
• Generate use tax reports and submit to the Accounts Payable Analyst.
• Assist in special projects and year-end audit schedule preparation.
• Focus on process improvements and efficiency for clients using current technologies.
