Job summary

MagicSchool AI is seeking an accomplished Accounting Manager to own the company’s accounting and financial reporting. You will supervise the general ledger, month-end close, and a Staff Accountant, while driving scalable processes as the business grows.

You’ll partner with cross-functional teams on FP&A, budgeting, forecasting, tax, and treasury, leveraging AI tools to streamline workflows. A hands-on leader with a startup mindset can grow toward Director of Accounting and Controller roles.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting is required.
• CPA credential preferred or inactive allowed.
• 4–7 years accounting experience with 2–3 years supervisory experience preferred.
• Public accounting experience is a plus; startup experience is a plus.
• Proficiency in Excel and Google Sheets; familiarity with GL systems.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day accounting operations and financial reporting.
• Supervise general ledger, month-end close, and staff Accountant work.
• Research technical accounting matters and prepare memos.
• Own the GL system (QuickBooks) and assist in system enhancements.
• Manage Order-to-Cash system inputs for revenue recognition.
• Support payroll and cross-functional financial needs.
• Prepare for annual audits and oversee tax compliance.
• Develop internal controls across accounting systems.
• Collaborate on FP&A, budgeting, forecasting, treasury and tax.
• Lead scalable processes as the company grows.
