Job summary

MagicSchool, a premier generative AI platform for educators, seeks an Accounting Manager who will own the accounting and reporting function. You’ll manage month-end closes, supervise a Staff Accountant, and drive scalable processes as the business grows—supporting international expansion and future audits.

Reporting to the VP of Finance, you’ll collaborate across finance, tax, treasury, and operations, leveraging AI tools like Claude to streamline workflows and improve efficiency.

Qualifications

• Minimum 4–7 years accounting experience.
• 2–3 years supervisory experience preferred.
• Public accounting experience is a plus.
• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets.
• Experience with general ledger systems (e.g., QuickBooks) and related processes.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day accounting and financial reporting.
• Supervise general ledger, month-end close, and reconciliations.
• Support ASC 606 revenue recognition matters.
• Own the GL system and assist in future system upgrades.
• Support payroll with issues and liaise with payroll manager.
• Coordinate annual audits and tax compliance.
• Develop and maintain internal controls across accounting systems.
• Collaborate with FP&A, budgeting, tax, treasury and other finance functions.
