Job summary

Guidant Financial, a fully remote company, seeks a Retirement Plan Operations Specialist to learn and administer 401(k) plans, reviewing documents, guiding clients through year-end reporting, and preparing IRS 5500 filings.

You will grow from document review to handling basic plan administration with accelerated training, gaining proficiency in plan testing and compliance tasks while supporting clients nationwide.

Qualifications

• Experience with document review and transaction processing as daily job responsibilities.
• 1 to 5 years of adjacent back-office financial operations experience in one or more of the following areas: benefits administration, money movement and wires, insurance claims processing, tax prep processing, loan or mortgage document processing, or compliance or quality-control support.
• Proficiency in using Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
• Direct retirement-plan operations experience, including 401(k) or IRA administration, recordkeeping, distributions and rollovers, compliance testing, or 5500 or year-end reporting, is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Work with clients to obtain necessary information to prepare the annual reporting.
• Review documents submitted by clients for completeness and accuracy.
• Reconcile plans with only rollovers and plan stock using Excel and administration software.
• Utilize administration software to complete 401(k) testing and reporting.
• Make outgoing reminder calls and send emails to clients during the plan year reporting process.
• Prepare required 401(k) plan government filings, including the IRS Form 5500, using filing software.
• Educate clients regarding the administration of their 401(k) plan and 401(k) plan documents.
