Job summary

Guidant Financial is seeking a Retirement Plan Operations Specialist to learn the full process of administering, testing and reporting on 401(k) plans from a home office. Through accelerated training and hands-on practice, you will grow from document review to basic plan administration while keeping clients updated on progress.

In this remote role, you will obtain information for annual reporting, review documents for completeness, reconcile plans, run 401(k) testing, prepare filings such as IRS

Qualifications

• Experience with document review and transaction processing as daily job responsibilities.
• 1 to 5 years of adjacent back-office financial operations experience in one or more of the following areas: benefits administration, money movement and wires, insurance claims processing, tax prep processing, loan or mortgage document processing, or compliance or quality-control support.
• Proficiency in using Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
• Direct retirement-plan operations experience, including 401(k) or IRA administration, recordkeeping, distributions and rollovers, compliance testing, or 5500 or year-end reporting, is preferred.
• Experience with reconciliation as a daily job responsibility is preferred.
• Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in a related field such as business or finance, or equivalent work experience, is preferred.
• Basic knowledge of 401(k) plan structure, ROBS, and IRS/DOL regulations is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Work with clients to obtain necessary information to prepare the annual reporting.
• Review documents submitted by clients for completeness and accuracy.
• Reconcile plans with only rollovers and plan stock using Excel and administration software.
• Utilize administration software to complete 401(k) testing and reporting.
• Make outgoing reminder calls and send emails to clients during the plan year reporting process.
• Prepare required 401(k) plan government filings, including the IRS Form 5500, using filing software.
• Educate clients regarding the administration of their 401(k) plan and 401(k) plan documents.
