Job summary

Guidant Financial is seeking a Retirement Plan Operations Specialist for a fully remote role supporting clients nationwide. You will learn the full process to administer, test and report on 401(k) plans, progressing from document review to basic plan administration through accelerated training.

You’ll review client submissions, prepare annual filings such as the IRS Form 5500, and use Excel and dedicated filing software.

Qualifications

1–5 years of adjacent back-office financial operations experience in benefits administration, money movement, tax prep, or compliance.
Experience with document review and transaction processing as daily responsibilities.
Associate’s or bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience preferred.
Basic knowledge of 401(k) plan structure, IRS/DOL regulations preferred.
Direct retirement-plan operations experience, including 401(k) or IRA administration and year-end reporting preferred.
Experience with reconciliation is preferred.

Responsibilities

Work with clients to obtain information to prepare annual reporting.
Review documents submitted by clients for completeness and accuracy.
Reconcile plans using Excel and administration software.
Use administration software to complete 401(k) testing and reporting.
Make reminder calls and emails to clients during the plan year reporting process.
Prepare 401(k) plan filings, including IRS Form 5500, using filing software.
Educate clients regarding 401(k) plan administration.
