Job summary

Layton Construction is actively seeking a Project Engineer to assist Project Managers to ensure that work installed on the project meets plan and specification requirements. The role requires relocation to the project site as the group operates nationally.

You will review plans, coordinate shop drawings, and support scheduling and cost-saving measures while communicating with the architect and subcontractors. Relocation to the site is expected for successful project execution.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in construction management or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 1+ year of experience with a commercial general contractor, or comparable internship experience, preferred.
• Strong written and oral communication skills; proficient in Word and Excel; ability to read blueprints.

Responsibilities

• Assists Project Managers to ensure work installed on the project meets plan and specification requirements.
• Reviews shop drawings and submittals for compliance and accuracy.
• Coordinate value analysis and constructability reviews with architects.
• Attend meetings and distribute minutes to project team members.
• Publish weekly progress reports and track information for project construction.
• Update project schedules and coordinate shop drawings milestones.
• Assist in bidding and developing scope of work for trade contractors.
• Support superintendent in scheduling and coordination of field activities.
• Maintain logs of shop drawings, clarifications, change requests, and RFIs.
• Advise on proper procedures for concrete pours and inspect reinforcing.
