Job summary

Layton Construction is seeking an Assistant Project Manager to assist in planning, managing, and executing construction projects. This role may oversee more than one project and focuses on meeting quality, owner expectations, and profitability.

Ideal candidates will have a bachelor’s in construction management and 3+ years in ground-up commercial projects, with strong communication and negotiation skills. The position requires relocation to the project site.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in construction management or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• 3+ years of experience in ground-up commercial projects, preferably in the light industrial and/or cold storage sector.
• Excellent communication skills and strong negotiation ability.
• Understanding of construction laws, codes, and blueprints.

Responsibilities

• Champions “The Layton Way” by delivering predictable outcomes for internal and external teams and customers.
• Helps prepare estimates, budgets, and unit cost reports.
• Organizes pre-construction planning meetings and assists in subcontract negotiations.
• Assists in project management plan development and execution of the construction contract.
• Develops and monitors project quality, safety, and risk plans.
• Manages project engineers to ensure construction compliance and timely submittals.
• Updates software for collaboration, quality, and document management.
