Job summary

Layton Construction seeks an Assistant Project Manager to help plan, manage, and execute commercial construction projects. The role may oversee one or more projects and requires relocation to the project site; the location above reflects the site, not the project location.

You will support budgeting, scheduling, subcontractor coordination, and quality control while building lasting client relationships and upholding Layton's standards of integrity and safety.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in construction management or related field or equivalent.
• 3+ years of experience in ground-up commercial projects, preferably light industrial or cold storage.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills with strong reading of plans and codes.
• Ability to work with honesty, unity, safety, and quality as Layton standards.
• Organized, self-motivated, and able to manage resources and schedules.
• Professional affiliations (e.g. AGC, PE) preferred; Spanish basics a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning, management, and execution of construction projects.
• Prepare estimates, budgets, and unit cost reports; coordinate pre-construction planning.
• Negotiate subcontracts and manage change orders affecting schedule and cost.
• Develop project management plans and ensure timely project execution.
• Coordinate close-out procedures including as-builts, punch lists, and permits.
• Mentor project engineers and coordinate with teams through submittals and RFI.
