The Relay Technician II role focuses on testing, commissioning and maintaining protection and control systems with increasing independence, working under safety-first principles and collaborating with engineers and senior technicians.

Qualifications

• Pass pre-employment drug screen due to safety-sensitive role.
• Criminal background check required.
• Overtime and travel for periods.
• Valid driver's license with clean driving record.
• Hands-on experience with protective relays in substation environments.
• Knowledge of relay test software.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to safety policies and participate in job briefings and hazard mitigation.
• Apply Human Performance Error Reduction concepts in daily work.
• Promote safe work behaviors and support safety initiatives.
• Perform relay testing with Senior Relay Technicians and Engineers.
• Execute element, logic, and basic functional testing of protective relays and control systems.
• Read and interpret one-line and schematic diagrams for protection logic.
• Develop testing and isolation plans for safe execution.
• Create detailed test reports and commissioning records.
