Job summary

Ascension Health is seeking a Registered Nurse for the PACU at Ascension St. Vincent in Carmel, IN. You will provide perioperative nursing care, perform scrub and circulating duties, and assist surgeons during procedures.

The role emphasizes patient monitoring, coordination of care before, during, and after surgery, and preparation of the operating room. Shift is 8am-8pm, Monday through Friday with on-call responsibilities for nights and weekends.

Qualifications

• Registered Nurse credentialed from the Indiana Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.
• Advanced Life Support (ACLS) obtained within 6 months of hire date or transfer date.
• BLS Provider obtained within 30 days of hire date or transfer date.
• Diploma from an accredited nursing program or equivalent licensure.

Responsibilities

• Deliver professional nursing care in the operative setting for patients undergoing surgical or invasive procedures; perform scrub functions and handle instruments and supplies.
• Perform circulating functions: monitor, record, and communicate patient condition; manage overall nursing care before, during, and after procedures.
• Assist the operating physician with surgical tasks including hemostasis, suturing, and patient positioning.
• Prepare operating rooms and surgical instruments and equipment for use.

How you’ll make an impact in this role

• Deliver professional nursing care in the operative setting to patients undergoing surgical or other invasive procedures.Perform scrub functions including the selection and handling of instruments and supplies used during procedure.

• Perform circulating functions including monitoring, recording and communicating patient condition and managing overall nursing care of patient before, during and after procedure.

• Directly assist operating physician with surgical tasks including hemostasis, suturing and wound exposure as well as patient positioning.

• Prepare operating rooms and surgical instruments and equipment for use.

What minimum requirements you’ll need

Licensure / Certification / Registration

• Registered Nurse credentialed from the Indiana Board of Nursing obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.

• One or more of the following required:

• Advanced Life Support obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.

Education

• Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing OR required professional licensure at time of hire.

Additional Preferences

PACU or critical care experience preferred.

Shift is 8am-8pm, Monday - Friday. Night and weekend call required.
