Job summary

MetroHealth is seeking an Inpatient Medical Surgical Float RN to join the Float Pool at MetroHealth Main Campus - Glick. You will provide patient-centered nursing care across diverse units, including Oncology, Telemetry, Post-Surgical, Orthopedic, Trauma Step Down and General Medicine.

Required are an active Ohio RN license and current BLS; BSN is preferred. Primary shifts are 7p-7a and 7a-7p with rotating weekends and holidays, offering comprehensive MetroHealth benefits.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing. Current Ohio RN licensure. BLS/ACLS as required. One year inpatient RN experience preferred or PRN equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Float to units including Oncology, Telemetry, Post-Surgical, Orthopedic, Trauma Step Down, and General Medicine.
• Provide RN care: IV placement, blood draws, catheter care, wound care, and basic procedures.
• Demonstrate time management, critical thinking, and delegation within a team of LPNs, PCNAs, and providers.

Bi-weekly Hours: 72.00

Shift: primary 7p-7a, secondary 7a-7p; Rotating weekends, Rotating holidays

Primary Patient Population:

• Variety of complex medical disorders

Primary skills utilized/learned:

• IV placement, blood draws, foley catheter insertion/removal
• Tracheostomy care, NG placement, PEG tube, various drains, wound care
• Time management, critical thinking, and delegating

Personnel RN will work with:

• LPNs, Patient Care Nursing Assistants (PCNAs), Nurse Interns, Providers, PT/OT, WOCN

Units RN will float:

• Oncology, Telemetry, Post-Surgical, Orthopedic, Trauma Step Down, General Medicine

Required Qualifications:

• Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing (or a program seeking accreditation).
• Current Registered Nurse licensure in the State of Ohio
• Current AHA Basic Life Support for the healthcare provider certification or obtained within 90 days of hire1 year of inpatient RN experience
• PRN requires 1 year of relevant RN experience

Preferred Qualifications:

• BSN
• Professional Certification recognized by the Magnet Association
