Job summary

MetroHealth is seeking an experienced RN to join the Inpatient Medical Surgical Float Pool at MetroHealth Main Campus. The role involves floating to Oncology, Telemetry, Post-Surgical, Orthopedic, Trauma Step Down, and General Medicine units, with primary duties including IV placement, blood draws, and wound care.

Must be a graduate of an accredited nursing program with Ohio RN licensure and BLS, with at least 1 year of inpatient RN experience.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing.
• Current Registered Nurse licensure in the State of Ohio.
• Current AHA Basic Life Support for the healthcare provider certification or obtained within 90 days of hire.
• 1 year of inpatient RN experience; PRN requires 1 year of relevant RN experience.

Responsibilities

• IV placement, blood draws, foley catheter insertion/removal.
• Tracheostomy care, NG placement, PEG tube, various drains, wound care.
• Time management, critical thinking, and delegating while floating across units.
• Collaborate with LPNs, PCNAs, Nurse Interns, Providers, PT/OT, WOCN.
• Float across Oncology, Telemetry, Post-Surgical, Orthopedic, Trauma Step Down, General Medicine units.

Bi-weekly Hours: 72.00

Shift: primary 7p-7a, secondary 7a-7p; Rotating weekends, Rotating holidays

Primary Patient Population:

• Variety of complex medical disorders

Primary skills utilized/learned:

• IV placement, blood draws, foley catheter insertion/removal
• Tracheostomy care, NG placement, PEG tube, various drains, wound care
• Time management, critical thinking, and delegating

Personnel RN will work with:

• LPNs, Patient Care Nursing Assistants (PCNAs), Nurse Interns, Providers, PT/OT, WOCN

Units RN will float:

• Oncology, Telemetry, Post-Surgical, Orthopedic, Trauma Step Down, General Medicine

Required Qualifications:

• Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing (or a program seeking accreditation).
• Current Registered Nurse licensure in the State of Ohio
