Job summary

MetroHealth is seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to join the Inpatient Medical Surgical Float Pool. The RN will provide bedside care across Oncology, Telemetry, Post-Surgical, Orthopedic, Trauma Step Down, and General Medicine units.

Candidates must hold Ohio RN licensure, have BLS, and at least 1 year of inpatient RN experience. PRN also requires 1 year of RN experience, with rotating shifts and weekends.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
• Current RN licensure in Ohio.
• BLS for Healthcare Providers (AHA) or within 90 days of hire.
• 1 year inpatient RN experience.
• PRN requires 1 year RN experience.

Responsibilities

• Float across units including Oncology, Telemetry, Post-Surgical, Orthopedic, Trauma Step Down, and General Medicine.
• Provide direct patient care and bedside nursing.
• Collaborate with LPNs, PCNAs, providers, and rehab teams.
• Prioritize safety and perform assessments and interventions as needed.

Bi-weekly Hours: 72.00

Shift: primary 7p-7a, secondary 7a-7p; Rotating weekends, Rotating holidays

Primary Patient Population:

• Variety of complex medical disorders

Primary skills utilized/learned:

• IV placement, blood draws, foley catheter insertion/removal
• Tracheostomy care, NG placement, PEG tube, various drains, wound care
• Time management, critical thinking, and delegating

Personnel RN will work with:

• LPNs, Patient Care Nursing Assistants (PCNAs), Nurse Interns, Providers, PT/OT, WOCN

Units RN will float:

• Oncology, Telemetry, Post-Surgical, Orthopedic, Trauma Step Down, General Medicine

Required Qualifications:

• Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing (or a program seeking accreditation).
• Current Registered Nurse licensure in the State of Ohio
• Current AHA Basic Life Support for the healthcare provider certification or obtained within 90 days of hire
• 1 year of inpatient RN experience
• PRN requires 1 year of relevant RN experience

Preferred Qualifications:

• BSN
• Professional Certification recognized by the Magnet Association
