Job summary

Ascension is seeking a NICU Nurse for the Austin area who will float across locations in the metro and provide direct, compassionate care in a high-acuity environment. The role features a rotating PRN schedule and a pay rate of $64 per hour, reflecting expertise in neonatal nursing and flexibility to cover multiple units.

Responsibilities include implementing care plans, coordinating communication across disciplines, and meticulously documenting patient conditions to maintain a seamless care

Qualifications

• BLS Provider within 30 days of hire; AHA or ARC accepted.
• NRP Certification required.
• PALS certification not required but preferred.
• Minimum two years NICU nursing experience in high-acuity populations.
• Ability to float across multi-unit or resource team environments.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality direct patient care across NICU and diverse units per protocols.
• Implement and monitor care plans; ensure timely execution of orders.
• Coordinate patient journeys by linking communication among disciplines.
• Record patient conditions, observations, and interventions accurately.

Location: Will float across various locations in the Austin, TX Metro area

Department: NICU Nurse Staffing

Schedule: Rotating l PRN

Pay: $64 per hour

How you’ll make an impact in this role

• Deliver high-quality, compassionate direct patient care across diverse specialty units in adherence to all established organizational protocols.




• Implement and continuously monitor patient care plans, ensuring the accurate and timely execution of physician and nursing orders.




• Coordinate all aspects of a patient's journey by serving as the central link for communication and assessment among all disciplines within the healthcare team.




• Communicate and meticulously record all patient conditions, observations, and interventions to ensure a seamless, well-coordinated care plan.

What minimum requirements you’ll need

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.




• NRP Certification required.




• Pediatric Advanced Life Support preferred. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.

Education:

• Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing OR Required professional licensure at time of hire.




• Minimum of two years of recent NICU nursing experience demonstrating clinical competency across diverse, high-acuity patient populations.




• Proven ability to successfully navigate and provide autonomous direct care in a multi-unit, float, or resource team environment.
