Job summary

Ascension in the Austin, TX area is seeking a NICU nurse to support staffing on a rotating PRN basis, floating across multiple locations as needed. The role focuses on direct patient care in diverse NICU units and requires strong collaboration with the care team.

Ideal candidates will have NICU experience, an active RN license, and current BLS/NRP certifications, with PALS preferred. Willingness to travel among metro-area facilities is important.

Qualifications

• Minimum two years of recent NICU nursing experience.
• BLS and NRP certifications required; PALS preferred.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality direct patient care across NICU units.

How you’ll make an impact in this role

• Deliver high-quality, compassionate direct patient care across diverse specialty units in adherence to all established organizational protocols.
• Implement and continuously monitor patient care plans, ensuring the accurate and timely execution of physician and nursing orders.
• Coordinate all aspects of a patient's journey by serving as the central link for communication and assessment among all disciplines within the healthcare team.
• Communicate and meticulously record all patient conditions, observations, and interventions to ensure a seamless, well-coordinated care plan.

What Minimum Requirements You’ll Need

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• NRP Certification required.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support preferred. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.

Education

• Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing OR Required professional licensure at time of hire.
• Minimum of two years of recent NICU nursing experience demonstrating clinical competency across diverse, high-acuity patient populations.
• Proven ability to successfully navigate and provide autonomous direct care in a multi-unit, float, or resource team environment.
