Job summary

Ascension in the Austin area seeks a NICU Nurse Staffing professional to float across multiple hospital sites on a rotating PRN schedule, delivering direct patient care. You will implement care plans, execute physician orders, and coordinate communication among disciplines to ensure a seamless, high-quality patient journey for newborns.

Required licensure (BLS within 30 days, NRP) and NICU experience; pediatric life support preferred; you’ll thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative team.

Qualifications

• Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing OR required professional licensure at time of hire.
• Minimum of two years NICU nursing experience demonstrating clinical competency across diverse, high-acuity patient populations.
• Proven ability to navigate and provide autonomous direct care in a multi-unit, float, or resource team environment.

Your future role at a glance

Location: Will float across various locations in the Austin, TX Metro area

Department: NICU Nurse Staffing

Schedule: Rotating l PRN

Pay: $64 per hour

How you’ll make an impact in this role

• Deliver high-quality, compassionate direct patient care across diverse specialty units in adherence to all established organizational protocols.
• Implement and continuously monitor patient care plans, ensuring the accurate and timely execution of physician and nursing orders.
• Coordinate all aspects of a patient's journey by serving as the central link for communication and assessment among all disciplines within the healthcare team.
• Communicate and meticulously record all patient conditions, observations, and interventions to ensure a seamless, well-coordinated care plan.

What minimum requirements you’ll need

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

• BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
• NRP Certification required.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support preferred. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.

Education:

• Diploma from an accredited school/college of nursing OR Required professional licensure at time of hire.
• Minimum of two years of recent NICU nursing experience demonstrating clinical competency across diverse, high-acuity patient populations.
• Proven ability to successfully navigate and provide autonomous direct care in a multi-unit, float, or resource team environment.
