Job summary

MetroHealth is seeking a Registered Nurse for our Acute Care Adult Medical Oncology Unit (3 East) at the Main Campus. The role supports inpatient oncology care, including IV therapy, transfusions, and pain management, with a focus on timely, high-quality patient care.

Ideal candidates have Ohio RN licensure; BSN preferred; AHA BLS current or within 90 days of hire. PRN requires 1 year of RN experience and certifications upon hire. This is a full hospital position with rotating weekends/holidays.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school of professional nursing.
• Current Registered Nurse licensure in the State of Ohio.
• Current AHA Basic Life Support for the healthcare provider certification or obtained within 90 days of hire.
• PRN requires 1 year of relevant RN experience.
• PRN must possess all required certifications upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Provide IV medication therapy and administer blood product transfusions.
• Manage pain and support hospice/palliative care for Oncology patients.
• Time management, critical thinking, and delegation in a fast-paced unit.
• Coordinate with LPNs, PCNAs, Nurse Interns, and Providers on the 3 East Oncology unit.

Shift: 7a-7p/7p-7a; Rotating weekends, Rotating holidays

Primary Patient Population:

• Inpatient Oncology (16 dedicated patient beds)
• Cross-trained for Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT)
• Medical/Surgical Overflow

Primary skills utilized/learned:

• IV medication therapy, blood product transfusion, pain management
• Hospice and palliative care
• Ability to obtain Chemotherapy Certification
• Time management, critical thinking, delegating

Personnel RN will work with:

• LPNs, Patient Care Nursing Assistants (PCNAs), Nurse Interns, Providers

Number of beds on unit:

• 30 beds
