Job summary

Phoenix Contact USA is seeking a Network Sales Engineer to serve as the SME on EtherWAN products across Northern California, Oregon, and Washington. You will bridge technical expertise with customer engagement, supporting pre-sales activities, solution design, and post-sales guidance.

This regional role requires strong communication, field collaboration, and the ability to travel up to 65% to engage customers, partners, and prospects effectively.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's of Science degree in Computer Science or Engineering or equivalent in experience
• 3 years plus of customer-facing experience
• Understanding of IT vs OT networking environments
• Direct or Channel technical sales experience preferred
• Knowledge OSI, Layer 2/3, STP, TCP/IP, routing protocols RIP/OSPF; wireless/cellular a plus
• CCNA certification and/or equivalent experiences
• Technical certifications in networking are a plus
• Must be organized, self-motivated, capable of completing projects
• Accountability, planning and transparent communication
• Strong written and verbal communication; presentation skills desired
• Proficient with CRM, Visio, MS Office Suite
• Vertical market knowledge in transportation, security, energy, process automation is a plus
• Able to travel 65%

Responsibilities

• Assist stakeholders by introducing EtherWAN products and communicating value propositions
• Project manage field engagements with business development and sales resources
• Collaborate with prospects, partners, and customers at field level
• Train on Networking from beginner to advanced; help create training material
• Conduct network audits and assist in network design with EtherWAN products
• Perform client environment simulations to test product feasibility
• Cross-reference third-party products to EtherWAN offerings
• Maintain knowledge of industry trends and customer needs for internal sharing
• Respond to customer inquiries regarding EtherWAN products and applications
• Attend trade shows and industry events as needed
• Generate mindshare with new and existing customers, channels, and partners
• Log technical support cases in CRM; coordinate across departments
