Job summary

Graybar Electric Company is hiring an Outside Sales Representative to grow our distribution in the assigned territory. You will develop new prospects and maintain contact with established customers, visiting them at their business site or other off-site locations.

You will meet or exceed gross margin budgets by promoting products in accordance with Graybar pricing policies, handle complaints promptly, and report market conditions. Extensive travel is required, including some overnight trips.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years industry-specific sales experience; 4+ years preferred.
• Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Knowledge of business administration, sales, and marketing.
• Strong negotiation skills.
• Ability to work independently to achieve goals.
• Willingness to travel extensively, including overnight travel.

Responsibilities

• Meet or exceed annual gross margin budget by promoting and selling products in the assigned territory.
• Handle customer complaints promptly and report potential claims.
• Keep management informed of local competition and market conditions.
• Carry out sales and merchandise programs and suggest stock.
• Maintain current customer records and assist in collection of past due accounts.
• Participate in training sessions, trade shows, and sales meetings.
• Demonstrate products after sale when necessary.
