Job summary

Arnold & Porter is seeking a Regional Business Development & Marketing Manager to lead marketing and growth initiatives in California and firmwide opportunities for the Technology & Media Industry Group, Technology Transactions, and Telecommunications practices. The role partners with California leadership to elevate the firm’s profile and generate new business.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; an advanced degree is a plus.
• Minimum of six years of marketing and business development experience.
• Prior experience in a law firm, professional services organization, financial services firm, or investment bank preferred.
• Experience supporting the technology and media industry strongly preferred; knowledge of the California market desired.
• Strong understanding of law firm and professional services business development; experience with pitches, proposals, and RFP processes preferred.
• Exceptional writing, editing, presentation, and verbal communication skills.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, including PowerPoint, Word, and Excel.
• Proficiency with CRM systems such as DealCloud, experience management tools such as Foundation, and AI-enabled tools preferred.
• Ability to build strong working relationships with partners, firm leadership, colleagues, and clients.
• Excellent project management and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize competing demands, manage multiple initiatives, and meet tight deadlines.
• Strategic thinking, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to define goals and deliver measurable results.
• Experience developing and managing budgets and evaluating the effectiveness of business development investments.
• Demonstrated leadership experience, including supervising and mentoring team members and guiding new initiatives.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, adapt to changing priorities, and provide support where needed.
• Sound judgment, discretion, and professionalism when handling confidential and sensitive information.
• Strong attention to detail, reliability, initiative, and commitment to exceptional internal and external client service.

Responsibilities

• Lead strategy and coordinate submissions for legal directories and rankings.
• Partner with California leadership to develop market strategies and generate growth.
• Develop pitches, proposals, and responses to RFPs tailored to client opportunities.
• Analyze market trends and client needs to identify BD opportunities.
• Manage marketing collateral and website content.
• Coordinate webinars and client events with Events Team, including on-site support.
• Identify sponsorships, memberships, conferences, and speaking engagements.
• Develop BD plans for lateral partners and counsel.
• Collaborate with cross-practice teams to pursue cross-selling opportunities.
• Use CRM and experience management systems to identify targets and experience.
