Job summary

Prosser Memorial Health is seeking a Referral Coordinator to verify insurance benefits and obtain prior authorizations for referrals to specialists, procedures, and testing. You will ensure all referrals are authorized and scheduled, coordinate appointments, and register patients in the system.

You will also communicate with patients, monitor loop closures, and confirm attendance and notes. This role requires confidentiality, adaptability, and efficient multitasking in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• 1 year medical experience with exposure to insurance verification or referral authorization fundamentals.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, CPT & ICD codes.
• Strong written and oral communication abilities.
• Ability to handle confidential information.
• Ability to adapt to change and meet deadlines.
• Ability to manage priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Check insurance benefits and obtain prior authorizations for outgoing visits, procedures, and testing.
• Ensure referrals for office visits, procedures, and testing are authorized and scheduled.
• Coordinate appointments and communicate with patients.
• Register patients and collect necessary information in electronic systems.
• Monitor referrals for loop closure; confirm attendance and share consultation notes.
• Collaborate with other departments to obtain required information.
