Job summary

Prosser Memorial Health is seeking a Referral Coordinator to verify insurance benefits and secure prior authorizations for referrals, visits, procedures, and testing. You will coordinate appointments, communicate with patients, and ensure proper registration and electronic documentation wherever possible.

You will work across departments to ensure referrals are tracked to completion, confirm attendance, and verify that consultation notes are received or sent.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• 1 year medical experience with exposure to insurance verification or referral authorization fundamentals.
• Knowledge of CPT & ICD codes.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both written and orally.
• Confidential handling of patient and organizational information.
• Ability to work in a changing environment.
• Ability to manage priorities and deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Check insurance benefits and obtain prior authorizations for referrals, visits, procedures, and testing.
• Ensure referrals for office visits, procedures, and testing are authorized and scheduled.
• Coordinate appointments, communicate with patients, and register patients.
• Collaborate with other departments to provide and obtain patient information electronically when possible.
• Monitor referrals for loop closure and confirm attendance and documentation.
