Job summary

Prosser Memorial Health is seeking a Referral Coordinator to verify insurance benefits and obtain prior authorizations for referrals to specialists, procedures, and tests. The role includes ensuring referrals are authorized and scheduled, coordinating appointments, and communicating with patients.

You will register patients and work with other departments to provide complete patient information electronically whenever possible.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• One year medical experience with insurance verification or referral authorization basics.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, CPT & ICD codes.
• Effective written and oral communication.
• Ability to handle confidential information and adapt to change.
• Ability to manage priorities and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Check insurance benefits and obtain prior authorizations for referrals.
• Ensure incoming referrals are authorized and scheduled for visits, procedures, and testing.
• Coordinate appointments, communicate with patients, and register new patients.
• Collaborate with other departments to provide all patient information electronically.
• Monitor referrals for loop closure and track attendance and notes.
