Job summary

Community Health Resources (CHR) seeks a Peer Recovery Specialist for the REST Center in Willimantic to support clients in recovering from mental health or substance use crises. You will use motivational interviewing, develop recovery plans, and provide crisis intervention when needed, all within a compassionate, trauma-informed framework.

The role requires lived experience, 2+ years in related work, and CPSRP or equivalent certification (CCAR) with a 6-month window to obtain if needed; valid

Qualifications

• Lived experience establishing and maintaining recovery from mental health or substance use conditions.
• 2+ years working with identified populations; CPSRP preferred.
• Certified Peer Support & Recovery Specialist (CPSRP) or Recovery Coach CCAR or equivalent; must obtain within 6 months of hire.
• Valid Driver’s License required.

Responsibilities

• Assists clients in identifying and advocating their own recovery goals.
• Utilizes program models including motivational interventions to support recovery strategies.
• Conducts program-specific assessments and screens as indicated.
• Collaborates with clients to create individualized, person-centered treatment plans.
• Provides crisis intervention and de-escalation as needed.
• Maintains documentation in compliance with agency standards.
• Transports clients as required by program.
