Job summary

Banyan Treatment Center is seeking a compassionate Recovery Support Specialist (RSS) to provide direct support and supervision within inpatient behavioral health, mental health, and substance use treatment programs. The role focuses on patient safety, engagement, and daily operational support in a structured, therapeutic environment.

The RSS works closely with the treatment team to observe behaviors, document observations, and communicate effectively with clinical staff.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; 21+ and valid driver’s license when driving is required.
• Experience in behavioral health, substance use disorder treatment, and/or mental health settings preferred.
• Detoxification and residential care experience preferred.
• Behavioral health certification or related education preferred.
• Strong observation, communication, and documentation skills; ability to work in crisis situations.

Responsibilities

• Provide continuous patient supervision and safety checks.
• Monitor patient behavior and document observations for clinical staff.
• Respond to crisis situations using de-escalation techniques.
• Ensure adherence to facility rules while maintaining a therapeutic environment.
• Assist with admissions, discharges, and daily activity coordination.
