Job summary

Banyan Treatment Centers is seeking a compassionate Recovery Support Specialist (RSS) to provide direct supervision and support within our inpatient behavioral health programs on-site in Kentucky. The RSS focuses on patient safety, engagement, and daily operational support while fostering a structured, recovery-focused environment.

The RSS works with the treatment team, observes patient conditions, documents observations, and supports clinical staff through accurate communication.

Qualifications

• High school diploma/equivalent or higher.
• Must be at least 21 years old with a valid driver’s license when driving is assigned.
• Experience in behavioral health, substance use disorder treatment, and/or mental health settings preferred.
• Experience in detoxification and/or residential levels of care preferred.
• Behavioral health certification or related education preferred.
• Strong observation, communication, and documentation skills.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary treatment team.

Responsibilities

• Provide continuous patient supervision and conduct safety checks.
• Monitor patient behavior, document observations, and report concerns.
• Respond to crisis situations using de-escalation techniques and follow protocols.
• Ensure adherence to facility rules while maintaining a therapeutic approach.
• Measure and document vital signs and assist with approved testing as trained.
• Support admissions, discharges, patient movement, and activities.
