Job summary

Banyan Treatment Centers is seeking a compassionate Recovery Support Specialist (RSS) to provide direct support and supervision within our inpatient behavioral health programs in Baldwinville, MA. The role focuses on patient safety and daily operational support in a structured, recovery-focused environment.

You will assist with admissions and discharges, monitor patients, and coordinate with clinical staff to maintain a safe milieu while supporting engagement in treatment activities and routines.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum age 21 and valid driver’s license if driving is assigned.
• Experience in behavioral health, substance use disorder treatment, and/or mental health settings preferred.
• Detoxification and/or residential care experience preferred.
• Behavioral health certification or related education preferred.
• Ability to maintain professionalism, empathy, and composure in high-stress or crisis situations.
• Strong observation, communication, and documentation skills.
• Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary treatment team.

Responsibilities

• Provide continuous patient supervision and conduct scheduled safety checks.
• Monitor patient behavior and environmental conditions; document and report concerns to clinical staff.
• Respond to crisis situations using de-escalation techniques and follow emergency protocols.
• Ensure adherence to facility rules while maintaining a therapeutic approach.
• Measure vital signs and perform CLIA-waived testing as trained.
• Supervise self-administration of medications where allowed.
• Assist with admissions, discharges, patient movement, and activities.
• Support patient engagement in treatment programming and daily routines.
