Job summary

IDEA Public Schools in Brownsville, TX is seeking an Interventionist Teacher to work with small groups of students who have identified gaps in Reading and Math, aiming to close the gap by two years within one school year. You will use universal screening, Direct Instruction, progress monitoring, and intensive, research-based interventions.

This grant-funded role requires collaboration with general education staff, adherence to state standards, and weekly updates to families on progress.

Qualifications

• High level content-area proficiency in Math and/or ELA with teaching certification.
• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year institution is required.
• Experience in a K-12 classroom is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Teach intervention sessions for small groups (3rd-8th grade) at risk in reading/math.
• Coordinate with general education teachers to align interventions.
• Deliver district-approved interventions and track student progress.
• Submit weekly lesson plans two weeks in advance for feedback.
• Conduct formal and informal assessments and adjust plans accordingly.
