SEPTA, the Southeastern Pennsylvania Transportation Authority, seeks a Maintenance Manager to supervise maintenance personnel and oversee location operations within the VEM Rail Operations. The role includes managing rail vehicle overhaul programs, budgeting, coordinating with unions, and ensuring safety and reliability. Opening Date: 10/1/2026.

Closing Date: 10/8/2026. Salary range $73,164–$91,442. This is a full-time position located in Philadelphia, offering comprehensive benefits including

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent, plus two (2) years advanced technical training in field of specialization.
• Three (3) years relevant rail vehicle maintenance experience required.
• In lieu of two (2) years technical training, four (4) additional years of relevant rail vehicle maintenance experience may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Supervise maintenance personnel and oversee location operations.
• Manage major rail vehicle overhaul and minor refurbishment programs including preventative maintenance, inspection and failure analysis.
• Control labor and material expenditures to comply with budget; issue material requisitions.
• Coordinate with Union personnel and other supervisors to align work activities.
• Maintain records on requisitions, schedules and reports to reduce waste and manpower loss.
• Provide technical assistance and support in repair/maintenance of rail vehicles and equipment.
• Monitor and evaluate performance of technical staff; implement safety policies and procedures.
• Develop cost-effective maintenance practices and forecast material and labor needs.
