SEPTA is hiring a Shift Foreman/Fleet Maintenance Mgr. - Bus Garages in Philadelphia to supervise maintenance personnel across multiple disciplines and ensure safe, reliable transit operations.

The role emphasizes cost control, preventive maintenance, and collaboration with engineering and union teams. A strong background in vehicle maintenance, mainframe/PC systems, and supervision is required, with a commitment to safety and quality service.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent, plus two years advanced technical training.
• Three years relevant vehicle maintenance experience.
• In lieu of two years training, four additional years of relevant maintenance experience may be considered; however, advanced technical training may be required for some positions.
• Valid Driver's License required (CDL may be required based on discipline).
• Must be able to work various shifts.
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written skills required.
• Supervisor experience preferred; three years of fleet maintenance in last five years preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manages a group of employees with minimum direction; schedules work for safety, reliability and customer satisfaction.
• Oversees major overhaul and preventive maintenance programs; handles inspections and failure analysis.
• Controls labor and material expenditures within budget; issues requisitions.
• Communicates with union personnel and supervisors to coordinate activities.
• Maintains records on schedules, requisitions and reports to reduce waste and manpower loss.
• Provides technical assistance for repair and maintenance of equipment or buildings.
