Job summary

Hensel Phelps is seeking a Quality Control Engineer (QCE) to lead quality control tasks on a large commercial project. The role spans field and office activities, requiring judgment in QC policy execution and adherence to project specifications and codes.

You will interface with the owner's QA team, manage defect tracking, coordinate third-party testing, and support multiple trades to ensure compliance and timely resolution. This safety-sensitive position emphasizes accuracy and teamwork.

Qualifications

• 4-year degree in civil/structural engineering, architecture, or construction management.
• 1–2 years' experience on large commercial construction projects.
• Valid Driver's License.
• Strong communication skills (verbal and written).
• MS Office Suite, Excel-based templates; Prolog, Primavera, AutoCAD proficiency.

Responsibilities

• Interface directly with the owner's quality assurance team on all quality-related issues.
• Comprehend specifications, standards and code requirements for all disciplines.
• Participate in submittal reviews, weekly QC meetings, and preparatory meetings.
• Perform initial and follow-up inspections and manage the punch list process.
• Ensure trade partner work complies with project specs and codes.
• Maintain records of inspections, tests, and findings.
• Initiate deficiency reports and track resolutions.
• Coordinate with third-party testing and source inspections.
• Interface with third-party testing agencies as needed.
