Job summary

Hensel Phelps is seeking a Quality Control Engineer to lead field and office QC tasks on a major project. You will implement QC policies, review specifications, and coordinate inspections and testing with trade partners and third-party agencies.

You will work within a safety-sensitive environment, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations while fostering a culture of excellence and teamwork on site.

Qualifications

• 4-year degree in civil/structural engineering, architecture, or construction management.
• 1–2 years' experience on large commercial construction projects.
• A valid Driver's License.
• Strong communication skills (verbal and written).
• MS Office Suite with Excel-based templates; Prolog, Primavera, AutoCAD familiarity.
• Proficiency with MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
• Ability to manage multiple tasks with excellent follow-up, both internally and externally.
• Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
• Strong understanding of federal, state, and local reporting requirements and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Interface with owner's quality assurance team on all quality-related issues.
• Understand specifications, standards, and code requirements for all disciplines.
• Participate in submittal reviews, weekly QC meetings, and preparatory meetings.
• Perform initial and follow-up inspections and manage the punch list process.
• Ensure trade partner work complies with project specs and codes.
• Verify materials meet specifications and proper storage/handling methods.
• Maintain records of inspections, tests, and findings.
• Initiate deficiency reports and track resolutions.
• Coordinate with trade partner QC personnel on procedures.
• Review trade partner QC logs and ensure corrective actions.
• Assist with scheduling of third-party testing and inspections.
• Interface with third-party testing agencies as needed.
