Job summary

At Hensel Phelps, a leading employee-owned builder, we seek a Quality Control Engineer to uphold project quality, blending field inspections with office oversight and ensuring compliance with specs and codes. This role is safety-sensitive and requires judgment to implement QC policies across disciplines.

The ideal candidate holds a 4-year degree in civil/structural engineering, architecture, or construction management, with 1–2 years on large commercial projects and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil/structural engineering, architecture, or construction management.
• 1–2 years’ experience on large commercial construction projects is preferred.
• Strong communication skills (verbal and written).
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Interface directly with the owner’s quality assurance team on all quality-related issues.
• Be technically experienced and capable of comprehending specifications, standards and code requirements for all disciplines.
• Participate in submittal reviews, weekly QC meetings and preparatory meetings.
• Perform all initial and follow-up inspections and manage the punch list process.
• Inspections verify trade partner work complies with project specs and codes.
• Maintain records identifying areas inspected, tests performed, and findings.
• Initiate deficiency reports and track resolutions to stakeholders.
• Coordinate with trade partner QC personnel and review QC logs for corrective actions.
• Assist with scheduling of third-party testing and source inspections.
• Interface with third-party testing agencies as necessary.
