Job summary

Hensel Phelps seeks a Quality Control Engineer to perform QC tasks on a major commercial project. You will coordinate with the owner's QA team and manage inspections, punch lists, and documentation for field and office activities.

The role requires a civil/structural or construction management degree with 1–2 years of project experience, strong communication, and proficiency in Excel, Prolog, Primavera, and AutoCAD. Legal driving status and US work eligibility assumed.

Qualifications

• A 4-year degree in civil or structural engineering, architecture, or construction management.
• 1-2 years’ experience on large commercial construction projects.
• A valid Driver’s License.
• Strong communication skills (verbal and written).
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Excel-based templates; familiarity with Prolog, Primavera and AutoCAD.
• Must be able to manage multiple tasks and have excellent follow-up skills.
• Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
• Strong understanding of federal, state, and local reporting requirements.

Responsibilities

• Interface directly with the owner’s quality assurance team on all quality-related issues.
• Be technically experienced and capable of comprehending specifications, standards and code requirements.
• Participate in submittal reviews, weekly QC meetings and preparatory meetings.
• Perform all initial and follow-up inspections and manage the punch list process.
• Inspections verify trade partner work complies with project specs and codes.
• Perform material inspections to verify storage, staging and handling methods.
• Maintain records of areas inspected, tests performed and findings.
• Initiate deficiency reports and track resolutions.
• Work with trade partner QC personnel to understand their QC procedures.
• Review trade partner QC logs and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
• Assist with coordination and scheduling of third-party testing and source inspections.
• Interface with third party testing agencies as necessary.
