The Purchasing Assistant is responsible for ensuring an adequate supply of assigned commodities to support Production and service needs. The role involves supporting the Buyer in purchasing goods, materials, and services, considering price, quality, and delivery to ensure supply continuity. Candidates should be reliable, detail-oriented, safety-conscious, eager to learn, and a good team player.

Responsibilities
  • Procure goods and services at the lowest total cost.
  • Manage purchase orders.
  • Ensure timely availability of appropriate materials.
  • Expedite critical parts to meet production schedules.
  • Follow up on past due purchase orders and shortages.
  • Identify and implement inventory and cost reduction activities, including second sourcing.
  • Develop and maintain supplier relationships.
  • Coordinate with logistics and warehouse teams to ensure timely material arrival.
  • Create and distribute reports to drive processes.
  • Work with Accounts Payable to reconcile invoicing discrepancies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • College degree preferred.
  • 2-3 years purchasing experience in a manufacturing environment using MRP/ERP systems.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
